ALBAWABA - Egypt recently witnessed a tragic incident in Cairo after two divorced sisters and a child locked themselves inside an apartment without food, refusing to interact with authorities and fellow neighbors.

According to Al Arabiya, the sisters who suffer from mental health issues locked themselves inside, avoided interactions with the neighbors, and refrained from exiting the apartment for 18 whole months. Neighbors shared that after some time had passed, darkness, dust, and a foul odor took over the apartment.

They added that their health plummeted, causing their mental health to deteriorate and their bodies to become "skeletal."

Several neighbors also reported hearing sounds from the apartment in question despite concerns that the family was missing. They tried to throw food through a small yellow window in hopes of saving them from possible starvation. However, each attempt proved unsuccessful, prompting the neighbors to contact authorities.

Authorities arrived at the scene, rescued the family, and provided them with the necessary aid. They interviewed the younger sister, who revealed that both of them got divorced and were living in their father's apartment alongside a child, who is one of her daughters.

Reports revealed that the divorce took a heavy mental toll on the sisters, which caused the incident in question. Authorities are still making efforts by persuading the sisters to leave the apartment and provide them with further aid.
