ALBAWABA - Tesla CEO Elon Musk is scheduled to visit Israel on Monday where he will be meeting Israeli President Isaac Herzog.
Musk, the owner of X platform (formerly known as Twitter), is also expected to be meeting relatives of hostages taken by Hamas in Gaza, according to the office of Herzog.
According to Israeli Channel 12, The American billionaire is also likely to be meeting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, however, the office of the PM hasn't shared any statement on this.
Why is Elon Musk visiting Israel?
Various theories and discussions were made on social media as people debated the intention of the visit by Elon Musk to Israel.
Many claimed online that since Elon Musk is accused by human rights groups of amplifying anti-Jewish hatred on his social media platform, he is now trying to polish his image.
According to Herzog's office, Musk and the Israeli president are expected to discuss "during their meeting, the need to work to combat rising anti-Semitism online."
The New York Times also suggested that X might lose up to $75 million in advertising revenue by the end of the year after dozens of major brands paused their marketing campaigns on the platform.
Furthermore, the withdrawal of the main international companies from advertising on X came after Elon Musk was accused of endorsing an antisemitic speech on the platform this month along with the continuous Israel war on Gaza.
Nevertheless, Communications Minister of Israel Shlomo Karhi posted on X: "Elon Musk, I congratulate you for reaching a principle understanding with the Ministry of Communications under my leadership.
As a result of this significant agreement, Starlink satellite units can only be operated in Israel with the approval of the Israeli Ministry of Communications, including the Gaza Strip."
