ALBAWABA - Reports emerged online that a woman, who was covered in the Palestinian flag, had set herself on fire near the Israeli consulate in Atlanta, United States on Friday.

According to social media reports, the woman was immediately taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Some predicted that the reason that triggered the woman, who was covered in the Palestinian flag to set herself on fire might be due to the renewal of the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip on Friday.

Fox News clarified citing the Atlanta Police Department that multiple were injured outside the building that houses the Israeli Consulate General in Atlanta.

It added that the police, the FBI, and ATF responded to the incident, which occurred at around 12:39 ET.

Furthermore, FOX 5 said that a "backpack and what appeared to be burned items" were seen in the scene.

This comes after the end of the 7-day truce between Israel and the Hamas resistance group and the renewal of the Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip which left over 100 Palestinians killed on Friday.

Since Oct. 7, Israel's aggressive attacks on Gaza have left over 14,000 people killed, more than 6,000 of which are children.

The Israeli army announced hitting more than 200 targets belonging to Hamas, in response to rockets fired by the group towards occupied territories.

The United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres posted on social media: "I deeply regret that military operations have started again in Gaza. I still hope that it will be possible to renew the pause that was established."
