Planet Travel & Tours introduces B2C online booking and adds XML for wider product reach

Planet Travel & Tours, a wholesaler and travel management company in the UAE and a subsidiary of Planet Group, is introducing a new online booking system for its B2C (business-to-consumer) customers and adding XML (Extensive Markup Language) to its system to reach a wider market.
The new distribution channel would allow B2C customers to access Planet Travel & Tours products and services while the XML system will enable agents and customers worldwide to access other travel sites. The project is expected to be completed by end of August 2011 and will provide efficient and faster confirmation for online booking for its customers and agents.
George M. Moussa, Chairman, Planet Group, said: “Our online system accomplished greater distribution and sales across two separate channels, our call center and B2B agents. We are on the final stage of the implementation of a new distribution channel for our B2C customers. We are also working on a plug-in, which is an end to end management console for XML. This means we are now available to a bigger and wider market that is looking for efficient, effective and instant online booking confirmation. This project confirms our commitment to offer customers the latest in technology that will guarantee better and efficient services.”
Planet Travel & Tours has an online system (a password protected business-to-business system) which handles all inbound tour business for the company such as accommodation, leisure activities and other DMC services in the UAE. The system is 100 per cent web-based and designed for agents to have instant confirmation of all services through Agent Web Access (AWA).
Planet Travel & Tours distributes a range of FIT and group products that include hotels, apartments, car rentals, transfers, sight-seeing and other ground handling services.
