The region’s construction industry to deliver projects worth USD 500 billion by 2015, say MEED, organizers of Arabian World Construction Summit (AWCS) 2011, taking place in Abu Dhabi from 23 - 25 May.

Region’s contractors, engineers, architects, MEP detailers and fabricators continue to adopt and benefit from Tekla’s freely available Tekla BIMsight, a new collaboration tool that lets construction industry professional’s step into the BIM (Building Information Modeling) process for free.

Tekla continues to support the annual Arabian World Construction summit (AWCS), an important platform for the region’s construction industry which is on the upturn. This year’s event will draw over 300 industry leaders and experts from the Gulf and beyond, confirming the summit as the premier annual event for the region’s construction industry.

“The Middle East construction industry starts to show signs of recovery and AWCS provides a the perfect platform for decision makers to meet, discuss and hear of best practices that will ultimately help the construction industry recover from the crippling effects of the global economic crisis,” commented Abdelrahman Muneer, Marketing Manager, Tekla ME.

At the event visitors can see firsthand Tekla BIMsight and how the solution presents a centralized way to maintain and communicate shared construction information. Project participants can see the big picture as well as every important detail in the same, illustrative and easy-to-grasp 3D model. Tekla BIMsight can be used throughout the workflow of construction, from the design phase of the building to its erection and site management.

Earlier in March this year Tekla has announced the launch of this free BIM software during a VIP Dinner ceremony that was held at Burj Al Arab. It was attended by top executives and influential decision makers across the leading construction companies in the Middle East.

”Tekla's mission is to drive the evolution to digital information modeling, multiplying our customers' potential to think and achieve big in their projects and businesses,” explains Tekla Executive Vice President Risto Räty. ”Understanding BIM as a centralized process rather than ’just a model’ requires cooperation and goodwill between the construction disciplines. This is exactly what we want to achieve with the new Tekla BIMsight software, and our part of the goodwill is to distribute it for free for the whole industry to easily take into use.”

Tekla BIMsight has been described as ’the missing link’ in the BIM software application because it enables accurate and effective 3D building information model-based project collaboration and management for everyone in the industry.

Tekla BIMsight software is ready to download for free at http://www.teklabimsight.com. Video tutorials and an online customer community make it easy for anyone to get started visualizing and communicating with building information models.

Furthermore, construction industry professionals attending AWCS will also be able to sample Tekla’s product portfolio at their booth.
