Reichle & De-Massari, the Swiss structured cabling specialist continues its successful series of innovative product launches with the introduction of its Single Circuit Management (SCM) portfolio. The new SCM product family optimizes Fiber to the Home (FTTH) network performance and will be available in the Middle East and Africa.

As the proliferation of FTTH networks continues throughout Middle East and Africa, brought on by the need for faster broadband speeds, network operators need a solution to handle the increased number of optical fibers in a reliable and ordered way.

In line with its strategy of developing forward looking products, R&M developed the breakthrough SCM portfolio, to manage fibers and subscriber connections normally. SCM is the heart of the R&M FTTH product portfolio and is optimal for next generation networks in central offices, data centers, and FTTX architectures. The main application of the SCM is the physical separation of the subscriber and features modular construction, unique subscriber management, 40 mm bending radius, and single element (SE) tray for 24 fibers. SCM supports all FTTH‘s current market strategies such as Point to Point (P2P) or Point to Multipoint (P2MP)  and Open Access, and scales for future high-power and xWDM applications for ultra-broadband networks.

Jean Pierre Labry, Managing Director of R&M Middle East and Africa said, "R&M has continued its innovation leadership with the introduction of the groundbreaking SCM product portfolio to add to its over 5,500 copper and fiber product solutions. With the SCM product suite, network operators now have a unique solution to handle network connections easily and ultimately optimize FTTH network performance.”

Consistent with its philosophy of developing easy to install products, the SCM family components are also easily assembled without using any tools. The scalable module support with integrated fiber conduits serves as the backbone. Thus, a network operator can expand the FTTH infrastructure flexibly and quickly or adapt it to meet its individual needs.

Another remarkable feature of the SCM is its large bending radius of 40 millimeters. This can be maintained even in the smallest unit, the Venus Box FLA house connection box, and fiber crossover, by using trays, modules and surfaces, which are specially designed to maintain the bending radius. The stress-free radius also minimizes attenuation losses and optimizes handling during installation.

The SCM family is designed for ultra-dense fiber optic infrastructures. The three different tray types can be fitted with six or 24 fibers and shrink-fit or crimp-splice holders and can be single circuit (six fibers), single element (24 fibers) or GPON splitter. You can handle up to 1152 fibers in a single distribution frame by joining SCM with R&M’s Optical Distribution Frame (ODF). The R&M splice enclosure for fine distribution underground in the last mile can accommodate up to 96 trays. The Venus Box FLA for the building entry point can fit up to 144 fibers and splices when combined with the SCM.

The SCM is suitable for all types of cables and fibers found on the market and is available now through R&M’s network of in-country channel partners and local offices.
