For the first time in 40 years women in Tehran were allowed to attend football at the Azadi Stadium in Tehran for the Iran- Bolivia friendly match.
The decision was widely welcomed, and praised by Iranian female activists who long advocated the allowing of women to re-enter stadiums since they were banned from attending men's games after the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
