China Opens 'Mars Base 1' in The Gobi Desert

China has recently established a mock Mars base-camp in Gobi desert. The 'Mars Base 1' has accepted 100 teenagers on a school trip as its first visitors.

Mars Base 1, a 574,039 square feet complex which is also known as 'Mars Camp', saw students try on space suits and wander around the surrounding desert where Martian caves have been constructed.

China's space agency expressed its aim that the camp will become a centre for researchers and adventure-seekers alike in the future.
