The Lathmar Holi festival is celebrated by a large number of men and women despite the rise in COVID-19 infections in India. Festivities usually go on for a week in Mathura and Vrindavan.
Each day of the celebrations has a different name such as Lathmar Holi of Barsana and Nandgaon, Phoolwalon Ki Holi at Vrindavan's Bankey Bihari Temple, Gokul Holi and the Widows' Holi in Vrindavan.
Thousands of participants preform dance, sing and immerse themselves in colour while drinking thandai--a traditional drink synonymous with the festival of Holi.
