Demonstrations and celebrations around the world have been held and are being held to celebrate International Women's Day. Women's Day, which takes place every year on March 8, has been celebrated since (approximately) 1910 and its modern-day version has been recognized by governments and societies alike. International Women's Day commemorates the contributions women have made throughout history and it draws attention to the challenges women continue to face such as sexism, misogyny and inequality. This year's Women's Day themes are "Break The Bias" and "gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow."
