On mother's day evening, hundreds of Lebanese women rallied against the ruling parties in the country on Saturday, March 20th.
Mothers have been demonstrating the crisis in Lebanon since the start of the civil war during the 1975-1990 period, right up to 2020, the day when the Beirut's Port blew up killing over 200 people and injuring thousands. Protesters have chosen Mother's Day as it is special occasion celebrated across the Middle East on March 21st every year.
Moreover, demonstrators mostly wore black which represent sadness, while others raised banners to slam the political class in Lebanon accusing them of corruption and negligence that led to the port's blast, and caused the worst economic crisis in its modern history.
The women's slogans read: "You have stolen our money and our children's futures," "“The best gift would be your leaving," as they demonstrated on Mother's Day eve.
