The NATO summit kicks off in the Spanish capital, Madrid as NATO members join together in three-day intensive meetings to discuss the deteriorating global situation and the war in Ukraine.
NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg stated Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has sparked a “fundamental shift” in NATO’s approach to defense. He also discussed the possibility of Finland and Sweden joining the military alliance following Turkey's reversal of its earlier veto decision banning the two states from joining.
Stoltenberg added the Wednesday-Thursday NATO summit would chart a blueprint for the alliance “in a more dangerous and unpredictable world”.
