ALBAWABA - Japan held a state funeral for former prime minister Shinzo Abe who was shot dead while giving a speech at a public event in western Japan on July 8, 2022.

Officials from 200 countries attended the funeral service, which took place in Japan's capital, Tokyo, on Sept. 27.

Ex-PM Abe's ashes was carried by his widow Akie through the storied Budokan venue in Tokyo, where a 19-gun salute sounded in honor of the slain former leader.

Protesters demonstrated against the country's decision to hold a state funeral, calling it a "fascist state funeral." People mainly protested spending taxpayer money on Shinzo Abe's funeral.
