Police in Sri Lanka is using music to help people in coronavirus-hit areas to stay calm and beat the health scare amid the rising number of cases in the island-nation.
The police band mounted on an open flatbed truck for a makeshift stage sang two songs to cheer up the Maradana residents who came out on their balconies to watch the live performance.
One of the songs the police band played is popular ballad "Hela Jathika Abhimane
" describing the strength and resilience of Sri Lanka as a nation. The other was a popular Tamil song.
“The Sri Lankan Military Band” combines with Sri Lanka Army Band, Navy Band and the Air force Band which was established according to the Army seniority in 1949, 1952 and 1970. It includes Ceremonial Bands and Concert bands which are base for the wind and popular music ensembles.
The band participates in main social and cultural events, including formal state events and military parades. The band performed Sri Lankan music culture and foreign music culture at the international military music festivals and the other events held both in Sri Lanka and various countries as well.
