Dubai Ladies Club, a member of Dubai Women Establishment, has added a new retail store to its list. Last week, Slouchy’Z Boutique, celebrated its grand opening in style in the Art Centre at Dubai Ladies Club. Boutique owner and head designer, Maryam Al Selaich, welcomed approximately 50 selected guests to the event which featured light h’ordeuvres, cocktails and a grand opening party discount on purchases. The evening also marked the first anniversary of Selaich’s debut as an Emirati designer of a bespoke abayas and evening wear.

The new boutique marks the first retail space for Slouchy’Z. The new shop reflects the spirit of the brand, which is trendy, refined and minimalist. Selaich’s intention to launch her retail line through Dubai Ladies Club was chiefly influenced by the Club’s prime location, popular recreational scene, high amount of foot traffic and “affluent female” demographic. At the Dubai Ladies Club, Slouchy’Z has embraced the opportunity to cater to the local community in a safe and well-respected environment, where ladies will be more comfortable to experiment the entire abaya and sheila collection on display.

On display was the new Slouchy’Z Ramadan Collection, comprised of rich and festive hues which embody chic glamour and exquisite craftsmanship and augment the sensation of the holy month. Her passion for design is reflected in this spectacular Collection.

“I think it’s human nature to tell stories through inanimate objects such as fabric, paper, and thread. The process by which we are able to transform the ordinary into the extraordinary is captivating,” comments Maryam Al Selaich. “I like to sculpt with fabric and have produced exquisite and exclusive pieces for this collection. My inspiration came from celebration, where colours explode in fireworks of happy.

Moreover, as part of Dubai Ladies Club’s ongoing effort to develop new and exciting services and facilities of benefit to members and guests, they have offered Selaich continued assistance during these developmental phases.

Muna Bin Kalli, Executive Director of Dubai Ladies Club commented, “Dubai Ladies Club has consistently supported female Emirati entrepreneurs through a number of programs and opportunities to channelize their strengths and contribute effectively to the social and economic progress of the UAE. In line with this ethos, we are delighted to introduce the first fashion outlet within our existing retail portfolio. We are confident that Slouchy’Z will see continued success in the weeks and months ahead and will provide an upscale shopping experience to our members and guests that feels feminine and personal.”

Established in August 2010, Slouchy'Z was founded by Emirati born designer Maryam Selaich to cater to a certain base of female customers who attach great importance to the design of the abaya and, specifically, their embellishment with high end fabrics and embroidery. Each Slouchy'Z collection offers a selection of bespoke abayas to its customers following closely Slouchy'Z philosophy "modern but modest".

Maryam Selaich's taste for beauty and luxury formed the guiding principles behind her fashion label Slouchy’Z. The desire to empower all women to feel beautiful, classy, and elegant shows in her flair for combining style, unique cuts and whimsy in a unique and everlasting fashion. Known for the attention to detail and high quality work, Slouchy'Z designs are exquisite and embody traditional couture bringing out the true essence of all the women who wear them.

"We cannot deny that, as women, we love fashion and being able to show versatility in styles in the Arab world of today, but combining this with maintaining our tradition, is, in essence, what we try to achieve with our designs," comments Maryam Selaich. "It's all about blending high-fashion with traditional culture".

Slouchy'Z is not just a house of fashion; it is a unique House of Art. What Slouchy'Z provides is not only bespoke abayas and evening wear, but a unique trait of wear line. Every piece of the collection illustrates the passion for exclusivity: the mixture of colours, the flow of the textile, the adequacy and delicacy of the cuts, all of which gathered, provoke passion and understanding of what the Arab contemporary women needs.
