The Bahraini contender for FIFA presidency, Shaikh Salman bin Ibrahim al Khalifa, who is the current Chairman of Asia Football Confederation (AFC), is ready and set to win the presidency of the International Football Federation (IFF or FIFA i.e. Fédération Internationale de Football Association) as the first Arab national to assume the helm in order to rescue the prestigious world football governing body - IFF. He is rivalled by Swiss, French, Jordanian, South African candidates. The FIFA presidential elections are slated to take place on February 26 in Zurich, Switzerland.

AFC's chairman presented his clear-cut promising election programmed aimed to eradicate corruption, revive and flourish the FIFA by dissecting it into two entities: "FIFA Football" and "FIFA Business Management. The former entity will assume the task of sound management of soccer championships and events. The latter entity will assume financial, commercial and financial issues management and he wants to act as a non-executive chief of FIFA.

He said I believe a non-executive chief of FIFA will be perfect but this does not mean I will not be a practical chief, I will be present there all the time and I will meet with everybody regularly. Shaikh He exudes a wealth of ideas included in his election campaign as he seeks to seclude marketing from financing to ensure more credibility in auditing and accountability akin to the English and the German premier league to ensure the wisdom of all decisions taken regarding contracts and agreements.
