Ahly winger Walid Soliman has been handed a four-match suspension and a LE 5000 fine after remonstrating angrily with the referee during the Reds' scoreless stalemate at Assiouty Sport, the Egyptian Football Association announced on its website.

Soliman was extremely furious with the official's decision to send him off for a second bookable offence committed by the Egypt international at the match’s hour mark.

In an ugly scene, the 29-year-old yelled at the referee while grabbing and pulling up the official’s shirt in the process before eventually heading towards the tunnel.

Soliman, who then apologised to the referee in the post-match press conference, is also set to be sanctioned by his own club for his conduct.

Ahly, who opened their league campaign with a shock 2-1 defeat by lowly Ragaa, are currently 14th of the 16-team league table but still have two games in hand.
