Al Hajri discusses 4th edition of Arab Women Sports Tournament in Sharjah

The UAE National Olympic Committee, NOC, has reviewed the key aspects of the 4th edition of Arab Women Sports Tournament, which will be held in Sharjah in February, 2018.

This came during a meeting between Dawood Al Hajri, Acting Secretary-General of UAE NOC, and Nada Askar Al Naqbi, Head of the Executive Committee and Manager of Arab Women Sports Tournament.

Mohammed bin Darwish, Executive Director of the NOC, Salim Al Habsi, Member of the Organising Committee and Director of Sports Programmes in the NOC, Hind Al Hosani and Zakia Al Musharrakh were also present at the meeting.

The parties discussed key aspects of the event which brings together top Arab female athletes competing in nine games, including recently added Karate.

Al Hajri received the booklet of the games covering all information of the event which aims to foster a spirit of fraternal competition in the UAE. Sharjah has succeeded in hosting an event held biannually displaying high levels of skill in individual and team sports.

He said, "The event spotlights women's sport at a time when our leadership is making every effort and means to empower women in all walks of life. Thanks to the kind sponsorship of H.H. Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of H.H. the Ruler of Sharjah, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs and Chairperson of the Sharjah Women Sports Foundation, the event came to light in 2012 and had made substantial results. We wish more successes for sports in the UAE in particular and in Arab countries in general."
