Algerian striker Baghdad Bounedjah has extended his stay with Al Sadd until 2024 the club announced on its website.

The 27-year-old striker who has been rumoured to have attracted interest from English Championship side Leeds United has bagged a record 29 goals in the QSL this season. Bounedjah also won the AFC Champions League top scorer award with 13 goals despite Al Sadd’s failure to make it to the final.

“The new contract with Al Sadd makes me feel proud and happy,” Bounedjah said.

“I am excited and pleased to have signed this contract with the team, which makes me more committed to this great club.

“I want to thank everyone in the club from the administration, the players and the coach, as well as the fans who make me feel loved. I am happy with the club project and I promise everyone to offer my best in the upcoming games, and our goal will be to win more championships and titles,” he added.

The Algerian star joined the Wolves in 2015 from Tunisia’s ES Sahel where he won the CAF Confederation Cup and tournament top scorer in 2015.
