Oman's campaign at the 2016 Rio Olympics came to an end on a disappointing note when its shooter Hamed al Khatri finished a poor 43rd out of the 44 participants in the qualification round of the men's 50m Rifle 3 Positions on Sunday.
The exit of Khatri ended the campaign of all the four Omani participants. Sprinters Barakat al Harthi and Mazoon al Alawi had failed to advance from their respective 100m heats, while shooter Wadha al Balushi had bowed out of the qualification round of the 10m Air Pistol event on August 7.
She had finished 26th among 44 participants. On Sunday, Khatri scored 374 in kneeling, 397 in prone and 367 in standing positions to total 1,138.
Only hosts' shooter Cesar Rippel fared badly than Khatri with 1,129. Russia's Sergey Kamenskiy topped the round with a score of 1,184.
