Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim discussed his decision to leave Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho out of the squad for this weekend’s Premier League clash.
Amorim guided Manchester United to a 2-1 victory in his first Manchester derby, with Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo scoring late to secure the win.
Amorim Reveals the Real Reason Behind Dropping Rashford and Garnacho for Manchester Derby
Speaking to "Sky Sports", Amorim explained: "We try to evaluate everything – training performances, match performances, player interactions, and how they support each other. Everything is assessed when selecting players. It’s my decision, plain and simple."
He added, "I don’t want to send any messages; it's simply about evaluation, and the players understand that. They are very smart, and everyone gets my decision. I have to make a choice – it’s a straightforward selection."
Amorim continued, "Of course, the situation is tough because we need to win games, and we’re in a difficult position right now. I pay attention to everything – how you eat, how you dress to go to a match. Every detail matters. I assess all of that before making my decision."
He concluded, "There was communication after the last training session, and they are fine. They trained well this morning, and I was there".
The Portuguese manager clarified, "It’s not a disciplinary issue, it’s all about the players' performances in training and matches". Therefore, Garnacho and Rashford’s future in the team will depend on their upcoming performances, which will determine their participation in future games.
