Arsenal are ready to offer a 'once in a lifetime contract' to Spain and Real Sociedad star midfielder Mikel Merino, as per Mundo Deportivo.
The Gunners have emerged as favorites to sign the 28-year-old this summer.
However, they are set to face competition from Aston Villa, who are also trying to bring in the Spaniard.
Merino's deal with Sociedad is valid until June 2025.
He joined the Basque-based club in 2018 from Newcastle United for a reported fee of €12 million.
The central midfielder played in each of Spain’s matches at Euro 2024, and scored the winning goal against Germany in the quarterfinals.
He eventually lifted the European trophy after La Roja's 2-1 win over England in the final.
