Aston Villa are reportedly weighing up a move for Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne, with the Belgian playmaker expected to become a free agent at the end of the current season.

According to Sky Sports, Unai Emery’s side are monitoring De Bruyne’s situation closely, viewing the veteran midfielder as a potential high-profile addition to their project ahead of next season.

A decade of dominance at City

De Bruyne, 33, is set to bring the curtain down on a glittering 10-year spell at Manchester City, where he helped the club secure 14 major trophies, including multiple Premier League titles and a UEFA Champions League crown.

Widely regarded as one of the finest midfielders of his generation, De Bruyne remains a commanding presence in the center of the pitch, known for his creativity, passing range, and leadership.

Staying in the Premier League a priority

While offers are reportedly on the table from MLS clubs, the Saudi Pro League, and Italian side Como, sources suggest that De Bruyne prefers to remain in England, partly due to family considerations and his comfort with life in the Premier League.

That preference could give clubs like Aston Villa a genuine edge in the race for his signature.

Strategic ambition from Villa

Should Villa manage to land De Bruyne, it would be a massive statement of intent from a club on the rise. With Unai Emery leading a strong campaign that could see them return to European competition, the addition of a player of De Bruyne’s caliber would significantly elevate their midfield and overall squad depth.
