The Villans who secured qualification to the Champions League for next season are planning to reinforce their squad.
Villa boss Unai Emery is said to be a huge admirer of the Uruguay international.
Araujo's deal at Barca expires in 2026, and is available for a fee of around £86 million this summer.
However, other major European sides are likely to enter the race to sign the Uruguayan star.
