Dubai will host the world’s first 24-hour tennis marathon in November with different teams representing companies from the UAE, comprising local and international players, will compete in the day-night-day event.

This world record breaking event is being organized by Sherriff International Sports Management (SISM), the organization behind the successful Dubai Tennis Academy and Veracity World, a leading sports and corporate event management company.

This exclusive 24-Hour Tennis Marathon will be held on November 13 and 14 in Dubai, UAE. The event is supported by the Dubai Sports Council.

There has been no tennis match played for 24 hours at a stretch in the recorded history of tennis.

Vipin Sharma, managing director of Veracity World, said: “We are very pleased to launch the first-ever 24 Hour Marathon in Dubai, a city where tennis has seen a growing interest in the recent years. The event not only comes as a platform for local players to showcase their tennis playing skills, but would also act as an ideal fun family outing.”

“Our mission is to empower and transform young people around the globe. Through this event we would like to provide an opportunity to the corporates & individuals who aspire to represent this unique record breaking tennis event. This event would be an annual event starting this year and we are hopeful that the event will help encourage the local talent and also attract more people to take up the sport,” he added.

Strath Sherriff, managing director of SISM and a well-known name in the tennis world, said: “Dubai has already made its mark as an important destination in the annual ATP and WTA calendar with the annual ATP and WTA event in Dubai attracting most of the top 10 ranked players amongst both men and women. Our attempt at the 24 Hour Marathon would further elevate Dubai and UAE’s position as the tennis hub in the region.”

The event will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for having more than 72 players playing in an exhibition event. Each team will consist of 12 players inclusive of captains whom will be selected from the Dubai Tennis Academy Coaching Squad.

The event will present players the opportunity to meet and play with and against the 2013 Wimbledon Champion Marion Bartoli. In her career, Bartoli has won eight WTA singles titles and three doubles titles.

The event has already welcomed participation from corporates like ADIB, Pepsi, Channel 4 and Grand Hyatt who will back their own teams in the tournament. The tournament is still welcoming participation from interested corporates and players.

The action-packed 24 hours will begin with an opening ceremony and gala dinner with Bartoli.

The marathon itself will begin at 1 pm on November 13  and conclude at 1 pm on November 14. This will be played at the Tennis courts of Grand Hyatt Hotel in Dubai.

The players will play through the night and it will be a real test of endurance to complete the 24 hour marathon. The final day of the event, November 14, will feature a family breakfast as well as free tennis clinics and interactive games for adults and children.

Players from the tennis community of the UAE are invited to register their nomination to participate in this unique tennis event. Gala Dinner Corporate Hospitality packages are also open for sales for the corporates and individuals.
