Co-hosts USA became the second team at the 2026 FIFA World Cup to officially secure their spot in the Round of 32, following in the footsteps of fellow co-hosts Mexico, after a well-deserved 2-0 victory over Australia today.

The USNMT took control of the game right from the kickoff. The technical and physical gap between the two sides was clear throughout this second-round clash.

Match Highlights and Goals

The United States opened the scoring early on. A low cross into the penalty area forced Australian defender Cameron Burgess to accidentally turn the ball into his own net in the 11th minute.

America kept up the pressure, dominating the pitch and giving Australia no room to breathe. They managed to turn out this dominance into a second goal in the 44th minute by Alexander Freeman.

With this result, the USA sits comfortably at the top of Group D with 6 points, officially booking their ticket to the next round. Australia remains in second place with 3 points, while Turkey and Paraguay are currently at the bottom with zero points.
