France's new president, Emmanuel Macron, on Tuesday lent heavyweight support to Paris' bid to host the 2024 Olympic.
Macron met International Olympic Committee (IOC) experts on the last day of their evaluation visit to the French capital, which is vying with Los Angeles for the hosting rights.
Chief inspector Patrick Baumann later said that Macron had promised to accompany the Paris team to a presentation of the two bids at IOC headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland, in July.
Macron was also expected to join the Paris bid team at the IOC's September 13 session in Lima that will take the final decision, he added.
The newly-elected president's engagement "very visibly and very tangibly demonstrates the support of the whole government, and the whole country, for Paris' candidacy," Baumann said.
Paris and Los Angeles are the only 2024 bids after the withdrawal of Boston, Hamburg, Rome and Budapest.
A working group is also looking at the possibility of a double vote for 2024 and 2028, which could see the 2024 loser getting the 2028 Games. The four-strong group will report to the IOC executive board in July.
Members of the Paris bid team have, however, repeatedly rejected the idea of hosting the 2028 Games.
