Former Manchester United winger Andrei Kanchelskis does not believe the team is capable of getting a top four finish this season.
The Red Devils have struggled for form this campaign, as they find themselves sitting in the bottom half of the Premier League table after their poor start.
The Russian icon spoke about United's form and told Sport-Express: "Today I see that the team will not enter the top four, and for such a club this is a disaster.
"So this season will again be pivotal for Manchester. They can now be compared with Spartak Mosocw — clubs with a huge history, which have a lot of problems.
"I say what I see: in order for these teams to fight for something, you need to change something. Therefore, the analogy is suitable."
Kanchelskis played for United between 1991 and 1995 under Alex Ferguson, and helped the team clinch two Premier League titles, the FA Cup, the Football League Cup, two FA Charity Shields and the European Super Cup.
