A 3-year-old Lebanese child who lost his parents during the bombings in Burj al-Barajneh met his sports hero, footballer Cristiano Ronaldo, in Spain Friday.

The young boy was also taken on a tour of the stadium by Florentino Pérez, the president of Real Madrid.

Photos posted online showed Haydar Moustafa, a resident of the Beirut suburb of Burj al-Barajneh, being embraced by the 30-year-old Real Madrid forward at Bernabeau Stadium in central Spain.

The idea for the visit came about after a Lebanese journalist posted photos of Haydar in a hospital where he was recovering after the Nov. 12 attack, which killed 47 people, including both his parents.

Daesh claimed responsibility for the twin suicide bombings. In the photo, the boy was wearing his favorite team’s white jersey.

The journalist, Rana Harbi, tweeted asking her followers to help Haydar meet Ronaldo. It went viral, and within a day Real Madrid announced that it would organize a visit. “I’m just happy we made this happen,” Harbi told The Daily Star.

“We can’t bring back his parents, but his story has touched hearts of people around the world.”
