Manchester City v Chelsea: Preview and Projected Lineups
Manchester City v Chelsea: Preview and Projected Lineups

Manchester City (2-1-1) suffered a heartbreaking loss to German giants Bayern Munich after a goal from Jerome Boateng in the final minutes of the match saw the Citizens fail to earn any points in their opening UEFA Champions League match.

Sergio Aguero, Pablo Zabaleta, Aleksander Kolarov and James Milner could all find their name on the first team sheet from the opening whistle. Only Fernando and Stevan Jovetic remain out and injured with Manuel Pellegrini set to pick from a nearly fully healthy side.

Chelsea (4-0-0) remain perfect in the Premier League and Jose Mourinho’s side are likely to be looking to improve after a midweek draw at home to German side Schalke 04. Competition for places continues to heat up with Oscar, Andre Schurrle, Ramires and William all looking to be in the first team.

Diego Costa is expected to star but likely to not play the full 90 minutes after suffering a knock that he is recovering from. Otherwise no injury concerns are on the cards for Mourinho.

Projected Lineups

Manchester City XI: Hart: Zabaleta, Demichelis, Kompany, Kolarov; Milner, Toure, Fernandinho, Silva; Aguero; Dzeko.

Chelsea XI: Courtois: Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry, Azpilicueta; Ramires, Matic, Fabgreas; Willian, Costa, Hazard.
