Former Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic believes the club will regret selling Scott McTominay to Napoli.

The Scot left the Red Devils to join the Serie A giants in the final hours of the summer transfer market for a reported fee of €30.5 million.

Matic who now plays for Lyon also departed United in 2022 to join AS Roma, and believes his former teammate will do rather well in the Italian League.

The Serbian posted to social media: "My opinion is that Manchester United made a mistake in selling Scott McTominay, today it is difficult to replace a player like him.

"(Antonio) Conte is an intelligent man."

Mctominay put pen to paper on a four-year deal with Napoli after spending his entire footballing career at Manchester United.
