Morocco will present a ‘high-quality’ bid in its efforts to host the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Chairman of Morocco’s Bid Committee, Moulay Hafid Elalamy, said Tuesday in Casablanca.
Since Morocco’s last bid to host the biggest sporting event in 2003, "a lot of things have been done," Elalamy noted at a press conference, adding that the Committee will prepare a solid bid.
Morocco has fulfilled many of the commitments made in the previous bid (stadiums, infrastructure requirements, telecommunications, transportation), he said.
The Kingdom has many strong points, including stability, geographical location, time zone, passion for football, tolerance and an authentic civilization, Elalamy pointed out.
In addition to Morocco, a joint bid by Canada, Mexico and the United States was also made to host the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The winning bid is slated to be announced next June at the FIFA Congress.
