The Oman Open Golf Tournament opened Yesterday under the patronage of Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal al- Busaidi, Minister of Interior and in the presence of Sheikh Saad bin Mohammed Al Mardhouf al- Saadi, Minister of Sports Affairs at Al Mouj Golf Course.
Dr. Mohammed bin Hamad al- Rumhi, Minister of Oil and Gas, Honorary President of the Oman Golf Committee, said that the Sultanate's hosting of the international sports championships is an opportunity to highlight the country and promote it in a distinctive way.
He added that Oman Open Golf Tournament has succeeded in attracting many of the followers of this game from inside and outside the Sultanate.
The Sultanate is expected to witness a tourism boom through the media coverage that the tournament attracts and which has a great role in attracting new visitors to the country.
