Oman’s ace goalkeeper Ali al Habsi’s excellent season with Reading, the English Championship club, was rewarded when he was named the club’s Player of the Season for 2015-16 on Saturday.

Habsi was honoured at a ceremony held at the Madejski Stadium in Reading, UK to mark the club’s tenth anniversary of earning a record 106 league points.

The 34 year old was presented the award by the club’s co-chairman John Madejski ahead of the home match against Preston North End.

Habsi came out on top as thousands of Reading’s supporters cast their votes.

The Omani goalkeeper was delighted on winning his second Player of the Year award in English football since joining Bolton Wanderers in 2006. He had previously won the Player of the Season award with Wigan in 2011.

Speaking to Muscat Daily shortly after receiving the award, the Omani shot-stopper said, “I am very happy to have been named Player of the Season. It is a big achievement for me. At the beginning, it wasn’t easy to find a place in the starting XI. [But] I did not give up, and once I found my place, there’s been no looking back.”
