Egypt and Roma winger Mohamed Salah is likely to miss the Pharaohs' anticipated World Cup qualifiers against Chad on 14 and 17 November after being injured in his club's 2-0 Serie A win over Lazio on Sunday.
The Egyptian star played from the start in the Italian derby before being stretched off on minute 58 after suffering a seemingly severe ankle injury.
"It will be a miracle if his leg isn't broken," Roma's coach Rudi Garica told Bein Sports after the match.
Some reports claimed that Salah could be sidelined for two months, but the medical scan is yet to determine the final situation of the player.
Salah is now a major doubt for Egypt's two matches against Chad in the second round of the African qualifiers for the 2018 World Cup.
Roma signed the international winger this summer on loan from Chelsea before revealing that they made the deal permanent for a reported fee of 20 million euros.
Salah scored five goals in 11 league appearances this season.
Roma currently ranks second in the Serie A table with 26 points, one point behind leaders Inter.
