Liverpool striker Luis Suarez could be booted out of the club for his shocking bite on Chelsea player Branislav Ivanovic.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has said he would hold crisis talks with the Anfield hierarchy regarding the incident.
Suarez apologised on Twitter last night. But the Kop boss has warned his Uruguayan striker that the club's name must be protected at all costs, The Mirror reports.
Rodgers said Liverpool's values are more important than any player. He said players are always replaceable no matter how good they think they are. Having seen the video footage and spoken to Luis, his behaviour is unacceptable, Rodgers said.
Rodgers said the history of the club is about respect and how people are treated, adding that it is something that will always be maintained.
Anfield chief executive Ian Ayre cancelled a flight to the Far East to handle the crisis and said last night that Suarez's behaviour is not befitting of any player wearing a Liverpool shirt. He said they would deal with the matter internally and await any action from the FA.
Liverpool legend Graeme Souness feels Suarez's days at Anfield are numbered. He called the incident "embarrassing", and added that he is making it very difficult to stay at Liverpool. This is not the first time he has bit someone in a match, he said.
Former Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp said called the act "indefensible" and an "incredible act of brutality". (ANI)
