Majdouline Charni, Minister of Youth and Sports, said that the commission of inquiry of the ministry is investigating cases of suspected administrative or financial wrongdoing of national sports’ federations.
She added that if these suspicions are confirmed, the names of these federations will be unveiled at the end of the investigations.
Charni told TAP the Prime Minister's recommendations are clear on the fight against corruption, noting that the youth and sports sector can be affected by this scourge.
We have set up teams of inspection committees to visit the different regions to investigate any suspected corruption that might have occurred in sports associations.
In that connection, she stated that an inquiry has been initiated concerning a sports’ federation. "I cannot mention it for the moment but we have evidence that there were administrative and financial mismanagement and we passed the case to the court," she said.
"The ministry has set up a toll-free number to denounce any suspicion of corruption and we will launch a campaign against corruption in early Ramadan.
We also have a committee at the Ministry of Youth and Sports formed of nine members working on the issue of tax privileges and suspicions of corruption and embezzlement in this area, "she added.
