Chelsea striker Fernando Torres has made an astonishing revelation that there was a time that he didn't really care if the Blues won or lost during his time on the bench last season.
The Spanish international is the main striker for the European champions, with Didier Drogba playing in China, Daniel Sturridge out of favour and Romelu Lukaku out on loan at West Bromwich Albion.
But Torres gave yet another insight into the despair he felt on the bench last season as a red-hot Drogba kept him out of the side.
"I have done lots of things wrong. Last season, there was a moment when I lost the values I learned when I was a child," the Daily Mirror quoted Torres, as saying.
"I had many team-mates who didn't care about winning or losing if they didn't play. I didn't want to be like them, but there was a moment when I realised that I didn't care either," he added.
"I also realised I was not happy, as I was not the person I wanted to be. I sacrificed myself for the team, as it was the only way to play," he said.
Roberto Di Matteo's men have had a strong start to the season and sit four points clear at the top of the Premier League going into Saturday's derby trip to Tottenham Spurs. (ANI)
