Germany gets their round of 16 action underway with a showdown against Algeria this afternoon. The victors of Group G after a hard fought last two matches against Ghana and the United States will be looking to take out their frustrations on Algeria.

However, the Algerians have proven they have what it takes to stick around this tournament having shown they know how to play for a win but also how to manage a game and get a result.

The Germans are set to be fully fit for the first time in the tournament with no selection headaches for Joachim Low and they are certain to have their strongest side on the pitch.

Madjid Bougherra is still suffering from a knock suffered against Russia in the last of their group stage matches but he is expected to play from the first whistle.

Germany are believed the heavy favorites and there is certain to be some life in the attack if Miroslav Klose gets the start he deserves as he is looking to become the World Cup's all-time leading scorer, while Thomas Muller is hoping for his chance to overthrown his fellow national by scoring again to give him nine goals in nine World Cup appearances.

Algeria are more dangerous than will likely be considered to be against Germany, but the European power has proven to be vulnerable more than once so far this tournament and could be proved so again if Algeria make the most of every opportunity like they have so far.

German Starting XI: Neuer: Boateng, Mertesacker, Hummels, Howedes; Schweinsteiger, Lahm, Kroos; Ozil, Muller, Gotze.

Algeria Starting XI: M'Bolhi: Mandi, Halliche, Bougherra, Mesbah; Medjani, Bentaleb; Feghouli, Brahimi, Djabou; Slimani.
