Tata Consultancy Services announces the first international edition of TCS IT Wiz in Dubai

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a leading IT services, consulting and business solutions firm, announced the first international edition of TCS IT Wiz, the inter school IT Quiz to be held in Dubai on April 30, 2011 at Sheikh Rashid Auditorium, Indian High School, Dubai. 

The UAE edition is open to school students studying in class 8-12 in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Dubai. There is no entry fee. Each institution is encouraged to send multiple teams of two-members each to participate. 

TCS IT Wiz, the biggest inter school IT Quiz programme in India, has been running for 11 years as a part the company’s Corporate Social Initiative. As Asia’s largest IT firm, TCS plays a pioneering role to help build awareness about technology and provide a window to the world of Information Technology for young students. Through TCS IT Wiz, the company aims to get school students interested about Information Technology and the possibilities that it brings for young, inquisitive minds brimming with energy and passion. IT plays an integral role in today’s society and economy and is a key enabler for success in diverse fields.

Overall Quiz Format: The written prelims are a common set of 20 questions for all the teams at the venue. Questions are in the form of oral, visual and audiovisual. Participants will answer the preliminary written round on the pre-printed answer sheets supplied by TCS.

Final: The top six teams from the written prelim would qualify for final. Only the best team from each school will be called on stage in the event of multiple teams from the same school qualifying for the final. These 6 teams will compete for the TCS IT Wiz UAE Champion title. 

TCS IT Wiz UAE Regional winners will walk away with exciting prizes including a Tablet each. The winners Trophy and the runners will be also rewarded with prizes and trophy. The six finalists will also receive an array of prizes from TCS ranging from backpacks, MP3 players, headphones, usb pendrives, laser pointers  and more. 

Subject: The Quiz will focus on applications of Information Technology across various sectors such as world of Internet and unique web sites, IT buzzwords and acronyms, IT Personalia - international, national and local, advertisements of IT and communication companies, software products and brands, history of IT as well as the humorous side of IT. The Quiz will also cover areas where IT has made an impact - education, entertainment, books, multimedia, music, movies, internet, banking, advertising, sports, gaming, social networking, blogging, cell phones, etc. There will be an exclusive round on TCS found on: www.tcsitwiz.com and www.tcs.com.
