Colour cosmetics market blossoming in the UAE

The UAE continues to be a key market for colour cosmetic products as recent research indicates that consumption of facial and eye make-up, lip care and nail care products will continue to grow at a healthy pace over the next few years.

This was revealed by Euro Monitor International, official knowledge partner of Beauty World Middle East, the largest international trade fair for beauty products, hair, fragrances and wellbeing in the region.

“The latest figures indicate that the UAE market for colour cosmetic products will be worth AED 519.5 million by 2014, reflecting a 27.8 per cent increase over the 2009-2014 period,” said Ahmed Pauwels, Chief Executive Officer of Epoc Messe Frankfurt. “As the UAE and the region in general traditionally enjoy high-spending on cosmetics and other beauty products, Beautyworld Middle East has seen strong interest from cosmetic manufacturers worldwide, keen on capitalising on this growing sector,” he added.

Eye and facial make-up, particularly lip make-up products including lipstick, lip gloss and lip liners are projected to be the two largest segments of this market.

The wide demographic spread within the UAE means that demand for cosmetics is widespread and across the price spectrum. Along with the strong demand for high-end, luxury products, there is also a robust market for the everyday, reasonably-priced product lines, making the UAE an attractive market for cosmetic manufacturers and suppliers of all kinds.

Beautyworld Middle East will run from May 24th to 26th, at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. As the premier networking and sourcing platform for the beauty industry in the region, it will feature a wide range of international brands, innovations, developments and trends in the industry and will attract buyers, retailers, distributors and beauty industry professionals.

Exhibitors participating in the 2011 edition with a range of colour cosmetics include: Delia Cosmetics, Eveline Cosmetics and Bielenda Cosmetics from Poland; New Cid Cosmetics, London; and local UAE company Momentum Beauty products with its range of Biosculpture and Creative Nail Design products and other local companies New Fair Lady, Millia Cosmetics, Herms cosmetics and Premier cosmetics.
