Jordanian Consulate in Guatemala Robbed

Thieves broke into the Jordanian Consulate in Guatemala City on New Year's Day, making off with nearly $20,000 in cash and fiscal stamps, The Associated Press (AP) said in a report, published by Jordan Times. 

According to the agency, the robbers, taking advantage of empty offices during the long holiday weekend, on Monday broke into the safe at the consulate, located in a residential area of the city. 

The intruders stole fiscal stamps worth $7,200 and $12,600 in cash, along with several Jordanian passports. Fiscal stamps are placed on documents to indicate that a certain fee has been paid, it added -- Albawaba.com
