Some ten local and international companies are predicted to submit offers for managing Bahrain’s public transportation system. The tender winner will be announced in early June and their authority over the system will be effective by December.

Eligible companies have until April 30 to submit their bids to a decision-making committee made up of representatives from Bahrain’s Ministry of Finance and National Economy, the Ministry of Transportation and technical advisor of the deal, the World Bank.

Being a small country, Bahrain has not found it necessary to build a railroad network or a complicated public transportation system. A number of public buses serve most areas in Bahrain, but the most common method of transportation is by car. — (menareport.com)
