AAKAR Developers Limited, a leading Canadian real estate and property developer, have announced the appointment of Cansult, the Gulf’s leading provider of Engineering and Project Management Consultancy services, as Design and Project Management Consultants for the Canada Business Centre Tower (CBC Tower) project. The AED 200 million project has been designed in Cansult’s Dubai offices and is currently being developed for tender by its multi-disciplinary team in Sharjah. The agreement, which was signed by Yadvinder Singh, CEO, AAKAR Developers and James Metcalfe, President and CEO, Cansult, also encompasses the formation of a dedicated project design team headed by Martin Bell and Hassan El Zagha from Cansult.

Strategically located at the heart of the Dubai Business Bay district, the CBC Tower offers 19 floors of prime office space and 7,500 square feet retail space at the ground level. The tower, scheduled for completion in 2008, will enjoy an enviable location adjacent to the world's tallest tower, Burj Dubai. The tower's innovative design also allows panoramic lake views for 95 per cent of all offices. Amenities include a fully equipped gymnasium, steam room, rooftop pool, Jacuzzi, food courts, shopping boulevard, and six levels of car parking offering 378 parking bays. Additionally, the tower includes three state-of-the-art conference rooms and business facilities to support commercial tenants.

Commenting on the agreement with Cansult, Yadvinder Singh said: “'To achieve our vision of CBC Tower becoming a landmark project at Business Bay, it is imperative that we associate with only the most reputed firms in the industry. Design and Project Management are a core process of any project, which makes the agreement with Cansult extremely significant. Cansult has a proven track record, both internationally and in the Middle East, in providing cost-effective advisory, management, and design services to clients in different market sectors, and we are confident that by leveraging their considerable expertise, Cansult will be able to lend a unique edge to CBC Tower."

Cansult is the leading provider of Engineering and Project Management Consultancy services in the Gulf, with approximately 700 employees in offices across Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Doha and Al Ain, as well as in Ontario, Canada, where the firm originates. The firm has successfully completed landmark towers for Etisalat throughout the UAE, the Abu Dhabi Trade Centre, Doha City Centre and many major projects for Sharjah including the Sharjah Etisalat University, University Teaching Hospital and Expo Centre Building. Currently, Cansult are involved in the design and Project Management of major projects throughout the region, including Al Waab City (Qatar), Al Khor Development (Qatar), Ittihad Towers (Abu Dhabi) as well as Medical City, Studio City, Industrial City, Global Village and such landmark projects as the Gulf Gate Bridge and City Bridge in Dubai.

“As the region’s leading engineering and project management consultancy, we have been planning and implementing large-scale construction projects for decades. Working closely with AAKAR on the initial design of CBC Tower, we have been successful in creating a dynamic building, which is tailored to its location within Business Bay. We consider it an honor to be a part of AAKAR’s first project in the region and we look forward to partnering with them in their future endeavours,” said James Metcalfe.

AAKAR is primed for further expansion in regional markets, and is expected to announce further projects in the near future. The CBC Tower is AAKAR's first project in the region and follows two years of research and over AED 500 million of investment. The company has recently exhibited at major property events, including Cityscape and Big 5, where the tower received considerable industry interest and support.
