The value of Abu Dhabi's imports rose five percent to Dh1.59 billion ($433 million) in June 2001, and volume increased by 53 percent to 450,676 tons, compared with the corresponding period the previous year, according to the Emirate’s customs bureau.
Abu Dhabi's non-oil trade however has fallen by 4.83 percent to Dh1.73 billion during the month of June 2001, compared with June 1999. A decline of 34 percent was also recorded for the Emirate’s re-export value, falling to Dh79.26 million in June 2001. Exports declined 67 percent to Dh60.86 million in June this year, as compared with exports value in June 1999.
As was last year, Saudi Arabia topped Abu Dhabi’s re-export destinations list, followed by Qatar and India, Egypt, UK, Yemen, Kuwait, US, Sudan and Pakistan. ― (MENA Report)
