The Al-Ain Flower Show and Festival promises to hold its biggest opening carnival parade yet, involving the UK-based parade design company Mahogany Arts and various community groups and local schools. The Al Ain Flower Show and Festival is taking place between March 27 and April 5 in Al Ain.
Mahogany Arts’ artists will design and produce the main anchor of the carnival, 20 large-scale carnival costumes, up to 18 feet high and over 20 feet wide, using flowers. They will bring 10 performers from the UK and also use 10 local performers from Al Ain. Some 42 smaller-scale costumes will also be created by Mahogany using flowers and animals as the theme.
The total length of the carnival will be one kilometer and will cover a two and a half kilometer distance. The carnival parade, which starts at 17:00 on March 27, takes place in Al-Ain town center starting from Khalifa Street and passing down Al-Ain Street via the Clock Tower past the Public Gardens ending opposite the Rotana Hotel.
Providing the music will be five marching bands from different police and military divisions and there will be a number of decorated, themed floats.
Speaking on behalf of the Al-Ain Flower Show and Festival Organizing Committee, Mubarak Al-Muhairi, director general of Al-Ain Economic Development and Tourism Promotion Authority said: “We are very excited about this year’s opening ceremony and carnival parade… The Committee is working with some very experienced and talented international performers and companies together with the local community to deliver an entertaining and colorful spectacle suitable for all the family.” — (menareport.com)
