Aluminum Bahrain (ALBA) appointed Alstom as their engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractors for the power-station portion of the Line 5 project on Monday, July 7, 2003. The $337 million Line 5 power station project is part of the $1.7 billion Line 5 expansion due for completion by February 2005.
Under this contract, Alstom will manage the various contracts and procurements of the Line 5 power station to meet the program and budget targets previously agreed between the two parties. Alstom will be required to complete the electrical, mechanical and civil design of Power Station 4 as well as supply the electrical and control equipment for the power station, such as transformers, switchgear and cabling.
Once completed, Line 5 project will position ALBA as the largest smelter in the world outside of Eastern Europe. — (menareport.com)
