The World Trade Organization (WTO) is scheduled to renew talks with Algeria, regarding the North African country’s entry into the international body. Algeria’s WTO working party first discussed the country’s accession to the community in 1998.
To date, Algeria has implemented initial contacts on market access of various goods. Topics to be discussed at the February meetings include agriculture, the customs’ system, state trading, transparency and legal reform.
The 144-member WTO is the only global international organization that deals with the rules of trade between nations. Members must sign to WTO agreements and have them ratified by their parliaments. The goal is to help producers of goods and services, exporters and importers conduct their business. — (menareport.com)
