Amazon is reportedly set to launch a brand new Kindle next week, says CEO Jeff Bezos.
According to an announcement made on Twitter by CEO Jeff Bezos, a new Kindle is almost ready. He even referred to it as the 8th generation of Kindle. He also mentioned that it could go up for orders as soon as its revealed, as it is really close to completion.
This new Kindle might actually be a replacement for the Kindle Voyage, the earlier generation of the Amazon slate which is still regarded as one of the best eBook readers. The Voyage had great features, whcih included a Corning Gorilla Glass front and haptic touch buttons, while still being a bit more expensive than the Kindle Paperwhite.
It is quite strange that Bezos decided to talk about the new Kindle through Twitter, as opposed to sending out invites to an exclusive event. This could mean either that the new Kindle is not as big of a product as we think, or that he does not want to waste time with fanfare while still building up hype for the device.
