AVEVA, the leading global engineering IT software and services group, has announced that its alliance with Autodesk, Inc., the world's leading design software and digital content company, will deliver solutions to the process, power and marine industries in the Middle East.

The key benefit of the alliance is that the final drawings generated by AVEVA's VANTAGE Plant Design Management System (PDMS) can be edited in the world's most popular drawing format with more power, accessibility and interoperability.

"The use of engineering design technology has become crucial to the delivery of major capital projects in the last two decades. With the increase of global competition, Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) companies are expected to perform against ever-more stringent profit margins, with a greater demand for bringing projects on line more quickly, cost effectively and with better handover of information." said Louay Dahmash, Regional Director, Middle East, AVEVA. "The alliance represents the pooling of core competencies of AVEVA and Autodesk to create synergy and cooperation between the two leaders of industrial digital design."

The methods of handling engineering information are considered to be among the biggest influences on profitability in plant and marine design. Traditionally, EPC companies have either indexed vital information onto drawings or, alternatively, extracted completed drawings after having built a precursor digital model.

The VANTAGE Plant Engineering P&ID (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams) features a complete, portable schematic drawing solution that can be used off-line by anyone familiar with AutoCAD? Software and then synchronised with the master project database through a sophisticated control procedure. The 'Final Designer' solution delivers an AutoCAD interface for the enhancement of final construction drawings, which synchronise with subsequent changes to the master plant model.

"We are pleased to have formed this alliance as it pools our core competencies
for clients who can now use AutoCAD's powerful detailing, annotation, sharing,
document management and 3D capabilities with AVEVA's intelligent AutoCAD enabled deliverables to provide the right integration to plant models," said Ahmed Al Jassim, Country Sales Manager of Autodesk. "AVEVA and Autodesk
can offer a more complete design solution for medium and large process plant engineering and distributed design teams who are working on complex projects."

"AVEVA recently opened its new Middle East headquarters in Dubai, to meet the demand of our regional customers in the oil and gas, power, chemical, pharmaceutical and shipbuilding industries," added Dahmash. "By integrating the competencies of Autodesk solutions into our acclaimed designs, we are offering Middle East customers cutting solutions for greater productivity and flexibility. Our alliance implies that many of the problems faced by EPC companies will now be eliminated."

AVEVA Group and its subsidiaries employ more than 450 staff worldwide, with offices in England, Australia, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Japan, KSA, Malaysia, Norway, Russia, Singapore, Sweden, South Korea and the United States.
